SUMMARY:BCYF Event: Youth Development 101 for Coaches | 5:30P - 7:30P
DESCRIPTION:Coaches are tasked\, both intentionally and unintentionally\, with a tremendous amount of responsibility for the healthy development of young people. Yet according to research by the Aspen Institute\, only about 1/3 of all coaches in the United States have undergone any training; let alone training in youth development. This session is designed to arm coaches with a baseline understanding of healthy youth development principles from the coach’s perspective. \nLearning Objective: Participants will be made aware of and provided with positive youth development strategies focused on forging positive relationships; strengthening academic\, soft and technical skills; cultivating trustworthy\, safe spaces; and offering youth opportunities to succeed in meaningful ways.
