2. Leading largest delegation Ever From Maryland at the National Mentoring Summit Capitol Hill Day
MENTOR Maryland | DC lead the largest delegation ever from Maryland at the 2019 National Mentoring Summit Capitol Hill Day. Joined by: Darren Rogers from I AM MENtality Youth Male Empowerment Project, Diwee Sewell from The G.R.O.W. Program, Derek Shields from National Disability Mentoring Coalition, Renee Angelo from US Dream Academy, LaShae Felder from My Sisters Circle, Glenn Porter from Talbot Mentors and Soccer Without Borders. 5. MENTOR Maryland | DC Co-hosts First Ever MD4Y Conference

MENTOR Maryland | DC co-hosted Maryland United 4 Youth with MOST and it was a huge success!

Incorporating youth voice into our conference was a priority for the MD4Y2019 team and we hosted a youth panel to hear directly from young people from across the state.

Volunteers were excellent ambassadors throughout the conference. Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers!

MENTOR Maryland | DC was proud to announce our first ever Mentoring awards for 2019. Recipients included Talbot Mentors as Mentoring Program of the Year. John Akoi, Mentee of the Year. Corey Witherspoon, Mentor of the Year.

Special thanks to the Patricia & Mark Joseph, and Rheda Becker & Robert E. Meyerhoff for their support for MENTOR Maryland | DC and youth across the state. We were grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the dedicated work of Ron Shapiro to the mentoring field.

6. Co-Facilitated Workshop on Mentoring in Workforce Development at the Maryland Workforce Association Annual Conference
This two-day event convened annually by the Maryland Workforce Association provided workforce development and education professionals with the opportunity to discuss evidence-based solutions and promising practices for developing Maryland’s workforce system. Our ED Sadiq Ali and MENTOR Maryland | DC Colleague Sherida Morrison of Pressley Ridge presented a workshop on mentoring in the workforce development context. Don’t miss out on the next opportunity to network, discuss innovative solutions for the industry and entertain in-depth conversations!

8. MENTOR Maryland | DC Partners with Starbucks & LinkedIn to host Youth Community Design Challenge
Starbucks, LinkedIn and MENTOR National joined forces to launch a nationwide campaign designed to connect more than 10,000 mentors and mentees across the U.S. The goals: Help close the mentoring gap by creating 10,000 connections online and offline with youth and young adults seeking mentoring support to jump start or grow their careers. MENTOR Maryland | DC participated by partnering with Starbucks & LinkedIn to host Youth Community Challenge at the Starbucks Community Store in Baltimore.
9. MENTOR Maryland | DC Hosts Youth Mentoring Congressional Briefing
MENTOR Maryland | DC held a briefing specifically for the Maryland congressional delegation on the report. This was a critical opportunity to learn more about the details of this important report and to find out how policy can support the challenges that mentoring programs in Maryland and throughout the nation are facing.
Upholding the Covenant: State of Mentoring Report in Maryland was created due the idea of MENTOR Maryland | DC Executive Director Sadiq Ali to visit every part of Maryland to get a feel for what was happening in the world of youth mentoring. In over 10 weeks and over the course of 15 town halls, MENTOR Maryland | DC complied critical information and perspective from mentoring programs across the state. In this report, MENTOR Maryland | DC lays out advocacy and engagement ideas for policymakers at all levels of government.
10. MENTOR Maryland | DC Co-Hosts Impact/Back To School Weekend Collaboration with Empowerment Temple
