National Mentoring Month 2026

2026 begins with National Mentoring Month. Each January, the MENTOR MD|DC team works to recommit on how we can better support, encourage, and build relationships through mentoring. Celebrate with us, all January 2026, as we work on making sure our young people in our communities have dependable people in their lives!

We know that capacity looks different for everyone, but the good news is that there are so many ways to get involved this month. We’ve tried to simplify everything as much as possible for you with our toolkit series, designed for people with different priorities and schedules: Raise awareness online with our Digital Engagement Toolkit. Move community organizations to action with the Corporate Engagement Toolkit. Connect with elected officials and urge them to deepen their involvement on behalf of mentoring with the Advocacy Outreach Toolkit and the State & Local Public Official Toolkit. Uplift local feel-good stories that highlight the power of connection with the Media Outreach Toolkit. All available below or right here!

For mentors and organizations looking to engage elected leaders. Use this toolkit to contact officials, advocate for funding, request proclamations, and more.

For public officials who want to support youth mentoring. Use this toolkit to build partnerships, promote dialogue, show gratitude, and more.

For businesses and community partners interested in youth well-being. Use this toolkit to create partnerships, spark dialogue, recognize involvement, and more.

For anyone promoting National Mentoring Month online. Use this toolkit to craft strong messages, customize graphics and videos, build your own toolkit, and more.

For organizations ready to share their mentoring impact publicly. Use this toolkit to write press releases, pitch stories and op-eds, secure local airtime, and more.
