BCYF Event: Best Practices for Group Mentoring | 5:30P – 7:30P
Group mentoring, as a recognized model in the mentoring field, has grown in frequency and popularity, so has the need for additional training for its practitioners. According to research conducted by MENTOR Maryland | DC, group mentoring is the most prevalent model in Baltimore City. In this session we will delve into best practices for this model.
Learning Objective: Participants will increase their understanding and knowledge about the alternatives to the one-on-one model of mentoring. Specifically, the benefits of group mentoring structures where one adult or a small number of adults work together with a group of youth will be highlighted and examined to assess their efficacy, advantages, and the challenges to the group model related to training and supporting mentors.
